Thanksgiving is about to POP OFF! And I, for one, can’t wait :—)
I can already taste that juicy roast turkey. My mouth is watering for a heaping helping of fluffy mashed potatoes. And I will DEFINITELY be having two pieces of luscious pumpkin pie topped with rich whipped cream!
Hungry yet? Yeah, ME TOO!
But while Thanksgiving dinner constitutes one of my all-time favorite holiday meals, the feast portion of the festivities is, of course, ultimately superficial.
In truth, Thanksgiving is really about giving thanks for the many blessings life has bestowed upon us.
Unfortunately, in our busy lives, Thanksgiving often becomes just one more day filled with tasks to check off our to-do lists. And as small business owners with already overflowing to-do lists and barely enough time for potty breaks, this is doubly true.
Meanwhile, as a small business owner, who may be struggling to stay afloat at times, not to mention all too frequently buried under those to-do lists mentioned above, you’ve got some BIG THINGS to be thankful for.
So, as Thanksgiving bears down upon us, have you taken a moment to count your blessing?
What blessing am I referring to?
How about, as a small business owner…
- You have the means to make your own destiny. Rather than living at the whim of a boss or the solvency of a company someone else is leading, you succeed based on your own efforts. And no one can take your successes away from you.
- You’re not beholden to a schedule, office hours, or any other arbitrary factors imposed by an employer focused on serving their best interests.
- You have the freedom to say “no” when a project or client doesn’t suit you. Because you define the parameters of your work, no one else decides them for your or imposes them upon you.
- You reap the benefits of the pride and self-confidence that comes with forging your own path and earning your successes through your own blood, sweat, and tears.
- There’s no limit to what you can achieve. You hold the growth of your business in your hands. If you have the will, there is a way. And no “organizational structure” can hold you back.
There’s certainly plenty more to be thankful for as a small business owner.
These are just a few blessings that have long resonated with me as a small business owner.
But my real point here is this: Take a moment and reflect on these blessings, and as you enjoy turkey or tofurkey or whatever’s on your menu this Thanksgiving, count them in your win column.
In parting, best Thanksgiving Day wishes to you and yours — Hope you have a blessed day!
P.S. Here’s a critical blessing to keep in mind as a small business owner:
You have domain over the growth and development of your business. Want to earn more revenue? It’s within your grasp. It comes down to generating more leads, cultivating more repeat clients, and winning new business.
And if that’s the trail you’d looking to blaze, I can help! Get in touch, and you’ll see the blessings of your small business blossom!
