Why Hire a Pro Copywriter? (AKA Why Hire Me?)

Written By Ryan

typwriter“So, why should I hire a professional writer?”

I get the question all the time. And what it really means is: “Why should I hire YOU?”
This query doesn’t bother me in the least. In fact, it’s totally reasonable. I am, after all, charging for my services. If you’re laying down your hard earned cash, you have every right to ask “what’s in it for me?”
And low-and-behold, I have the perfect answer! Here it is…

Time, Expertise and Personnel

There are three reasons business owners hire vendors to assist them:
Time – You don’t have the time to handle a particular task yourself.
Expertise – You don’t have the expertise or skills necessary to handle a particular task.
Personnel – You don’t have the personnel or staff with time or expertise to handle a particular task, and you don’t want to take on a full or part-time employee dedicated to handling said task.
It’s possible you’re facing more than one, or even all three of these challenges. And if marketing your business, in particular writing marketing content, is an unfinished (or even unapproached) task that’s currently staring you down, Clint Eastwood-style, it’s pretty obvious you need to hire a professional copywriter.
But let’s take a closer look at each reason…

Time

As a business owner, especially in the professional service realm, you’ve already got a lot on your plate. From President to cost accountant to operations manager and even janitor sometimes, plus a while lot more, you’re wearing a LOT of hats. Likely far too many.
Writing content and developing marketing strategies is just one more burden heaped on your already overflowing plate. And one you frankly, don’t have time for.
Moreover, every business guru, management consultant and growth expert insists on the same Prime Directive: It’s counter-productive to waste time on tasks, whether essential or not, that take you away from focusing on your core business.
Good lawyers negotiate agreements, consult with clients and generally “lawyer.” Good accountants crunch numbers, search for tax loopholes and generally “account.” Neither of these parties, through the execution of their core duties, would ever write marketing copy.
And that brings us to the next reason…

Expertise

You know your business better than ANYONE. Your professional success is proof positive of this fact.
But that doesn’t mean you know how to market your business. It doesn’t mean you know how to write marketing copy that engages prospects with emotional triggers, captivates their attention, and leads them by the hand on the journey of conversion – escorting them from interested party to paying customer.
And why should you? Being good at your business doesn’t have anything to do with being good at selling your business. And especially not selling your business in writing, which requires a different skillset, another gear so to speak, that transcends even face-to-face selling.
And that’s why you call in a professional copywriter off the bench, which brings us to the next reason…

Personnel

If you’re like most small business owners, you don’t have the personnel with the time or expertise to write marketing copy.
Financially speaking it doesn’t make sense to hire a full or even part-time employee, as your need is sparse and inconsistent.
And even if you had an employee who could dedicate a portion of their time to writing marketing content, what are the odds they have the necessary skills? Wouldn’t their time be better spent focusing on task that match their expertise? Hiring a professional freelance copywriter, with specific skills and expertise, on an as needed basis, is simply a smarter, financially savvy play.
And now we get to the real meat of the question…

“Why should I hire YOU?”

That’s easy.

  • I’m a seasoned pro with 18 years of marketing and business writing experience.
  • I’m well versed in the core principle of marketing – making and keeping a customer.
  • I know how to tell stories that connect, engage and convert.
  • I have the writing chops to pull marketing and storytelling together.

And my track record that speaks for itself…
I’ve helped professional service providers – real estate agents, attorneys, accountants and financial planners…

  • Increase annual revenues by as much as 300%
  • Attract as many as dozen new clients a month
  • Generate more than two dozen monthly leads and prospects

The real question is: Why wouldn’t you hire me?
